Why translate your profile on LinkedIn?
Working your company's brand image, the image conveyed by your website and your communication on social networks, is key. In this post, we will focus on why you should take some time to carefully translate your LinkedIn profile.
Advantages of translating your LinkedIn profile
- Your profile will gain visibility within LinkedIn
- It conveys professionalism to your users
- It boosts your chances of finding clients in other markets
- Your personal brand will become more international
- You will activate keywords in several different languages, thereby multiplying your impact
This last advantage is important because if a user does a search for "Servicio de Traducción" and another for "Translation Services", they will obtain different results because the LinkedIn algorithm interprets them as two different keywords even though they have the same meaning. Hence, translating your profile on this social network would allow you to position yourself in both the Spanish and English speaking markets, in this case.
To translate your LinkedIn profile, just follow these steps:
- Log in to your profile and go to the "Languages" tab.
- Select the language you would like to translate your profile into and insert the translated content. To complete the changes, select the pencil icon on the top right of each one and enter the translated text.
- Once you have finished, click on "Publish" and the translation of your profile will be published.
If foreign companies visit your profile, they will view it in the language in which they have configured their own LinkedIn profile. Thus, by translating it into another language, you will eliminate the famous language barrier and connect directly with potential clients in their language.
And what happens when they search for me from a language in which I don't have a translated profile? Well, in that case, your profile will be displayed in the language in which it was first created. LinkedIn refers to this as your "default" profile and it cannot be changed or deleted.
What languages should I translate my profile into?
Your profile should be in the language spoken by your target audience. Currently, LinkedIn allows you to save 20 profile translations. If your professional projection is international, it is recommendable to post your default profile in English, since it's the international language of business, but you should bear in mind that it will all depend on the language of the market you wish to address.
It is important that you use a professional team, so that your business is perceived as reputable and flawless. This, coupled with continuous online activity, will increase visits to your profile and boost the creation of new contacts with a potential interest in your business and your products and services.
